Farm fresh eggs are wonderful. They come in many colors and sizes! It's always nice to get eggs from my friend (who raises chickens). She has a nice place out in the country... where it's so quiet and peaceful.

About a month ago, my friend's sister was giving away kittens. This is the little beauty that they gave me. Her name is Lily. I named her after all the dolls i had when i was younger. Yes, i named all my dolls Lily. I was a weird kid.

When i first got her, she would never let me sleep and always scratched at my legs. Now she is a bit more calm. She will still occasionally walk all over my body and head when i'm sleeping but i don't mind it so much anymore.

Únicamente me siento sola en el instante de despertar. Al alzar los ojos al cielo ligeramente nublado, comprendo que ha transcurrido mucho tiempo desde que me dormí. Y pienso, confusa: “No tenía ninguna intención de dormir, pero he perdido el día durmiendo”. Inmersa en un remordimiento pesado muy cercano a la humillación, siento cómo, de repente, un escalofrío me recorre la espalda.

Raspberry Crumble Tart from Gourmet.

The autumn season means endless baking for me. It's when i can leave all the windows to the house open, listen to some music, and just bake. I meant to make this for Wednesday's potluck but i complete forgot that pastry dough needs to chill for one hour (it's been that long since i've made pastry dough). So i made it the next day and it is delicious!

I really do love baking during this time of year. More baking posts to come!

I had a wonderful birthday potluck. Lots of delicious food (some homemade!), drinks, and catching up.

...got home around 3am and finally fell asleep at 4am. Then up for work at 8:30am. Working an entire shift on only 4 hours of sleep was very much worth it.

My best friend wanted to take me somewhere nice before i left for California. She asked me if i had ever been to Blue Dahlia. I said no. I don't think i had even heard of the place! Anyway, since i'm not a risk taker when it comes to food, i chose the most familiar thing on the menu : a tartine - chicken salad with nuts & dried cranberries. My, my. It was delicious!

I wish i had taken more pictures because the Blue Dahlia Bistro is beyond adorable! Also, it's times like this i wish i had an f/1.4 lens!

Finally, some beach photographs! I took so many i didn't know which ones to upload first. I think these three are my favorite. Was i crazy to walk around barefoot during this time of year? Maybe. Was it worth the freezing toes? Totally.

I'm dying to get these printed to hang up in my room (and possibly added to the shoppe). I used expired film i've never heard of (found at $1 store). Yay. Must buy more!

So, i finally got around to developing my film. Seven rolls! I can't believe it. I also can't believe how expensive it has gotten to develop film.

Here are some shots of when i walked around Union Square. I went alone. It was kind of nice. I'm not really into Christmas but the decorations looked so pretty during the night. I couldn't help myself.

PS. My film looks a little strange because i forgot to take it out of my luggage when i went through airport security. Fail.

After two weeks of rain, rain, and more rain, today it was a sunny (though a tiny bit cloudy) day. I spent the day with two wonderful people : my sister and her boyfriend. I have been in the Bay Area since late August and not once have i visited the beach. Today, they took me. I fell in love! It was cold but i still took off my flats and walked barefoot. This was the first time i visited a beach since my high school years. I had forgotten what it felt like to walk on wet sand.

I collected a few rocks, shells, and one sand dollar for my friend back home in Texas. I also took three rolls worth of pictures! I used different settings so i hope i get some decent pictures. I'm excited to see them!

Afterwards, we went to the Tenderloin neighborhood and had some Bahn Mi from Saigon Sandwich. It was delicious! This neighborhood wasn't as "scary" as people made it out to be. Maybe it's only scary on certain days? We started driving home but suddenly craved something sweet. We ended the night in Berkeley, nibbling on our sweet pastry and perusing record shops.

I had such a wonderful time. What a great way to start off the new year. I can't wait to develop my films and share the pictures from this day. Happy Belated New Year, everyone!

Missed the first rain in my new home : California. It happened during the night when i was asleep. I really love the rain & miss it terribly.

This photograph was taken about 3-4 years ago. I'm awful at developing film. I wait forever & then get sad when my prints come out grainy. This was the last roll i decided to develop from then. Glad i did.

Sketching for Communication

This summer i took a sketching class. Sketching has always been something i was deathly afraid of. So much so, i took a dance class in high school just to avoid taking art. Long story short, i'm glad this class is over. I did learn a lot & i hope to continue sketching (simple illustrations for the time being).

Lately i have been trying to capture the tiniest details of my everyday life. Late summer i will be moving away for university. I'm nervous, scared, & excited all at the same time. I will be living in a new city, far away from friends & family. I hope i'm open to meeting new people, seeing new places, tasting new foods, etc. The thought of becoming the anti-social person i was before terrifies me !

The photo above was taken during an evening walk with a friend. I met her in March & we've gotten along really well. When i see the photos from that day, i realize that i will miss our evening walks terribly.

Usually summers are eternal but not this time. Time is passing by too fast...

& i don't like it.

meet mayu. she came to visit us for the first time at midnight. she was so scared, hungry, and dirty. little tiger was nice enough to share his food & milk with her. for such a small kitten, she ate so much ! after her large "midnight snack," my sister & i gave her a warm bath. before her bath, her white fur looked gray. the bath water turned dark.

later, we went to play in my sister's room. she kept us up until 3 in the morning. she never got tired of playing with that hot pink shoelace. finally, i give in to sleep. i couldn't stay awake any longer. i went to my room & slept.

this morning was exceptionally wonderful. the morning breeze woke me up slowly. i smiled. it's so nice to know that there is a new friend in the house. i checked up on mayu & gave her breakfast. she seemed to have gone to her old ways because she was hiding under the bed, scared to come out. i convinced her to come out with a bowl of food & milk.

H. took her to the shelter before going to work. though Mayu is now gone, her playful presence still lingers. she is a gorgeous cat & i have faith that she will be adopted into a loving home very soon. i wish i could have kept her but now it is not possible.

a couple of weeks ago, little tiger got into a fight with another cat. my mom & sister cleaned out his wound but a few days later it got worse. my sister & i took him to the vet. he doesn't like cars very much but my sister did an awesome job at making him feel safe. at the pet clinic, the vet said his wound required surgery.

long story short, this week he will finish taking all of his medicine & i am happy to report that his wound is closing up nicely. soon he will be able to go outside & scratch his nose on every surface possible.
